How it works

Students in school and Adults

Angelos' mentoring approach aims to guide students from the age of 14 and adults through a structured and personalised methodology. This guidance process is designed to help make informed decisions about academic and career paths, ensuring they align with their strengths, interests, and long-term goals. Here's a detailed breakdown of how Angelos assists students at each step of his mentoring process:

Step 1: Understanding the Student’s Current Situation and Thoughts

  • Subject Selection: Reviewing the subjects the student has chosen or is considering, and understanding the reasons behind these choices. This helps identify their interests, strengths, and any areas of uncertainty.

  • Current Thoughts and Experiences: Assessing the student’s experiences and opinions about their chosen subjects, including any positive or negative feelings, performance levels, and how these subjects align with their perceived career interests.

  • Initial Career Thoughts: Discussing any initial ideas or thoughts the student has about their future career, job preferences, and how these align with their academic direction.

Step 2: Confirming Understanding with a Solid and Clear Methodology

  • Feedback Sessions: Regular feedback sessions with the student (and parents if appropriate) to discuss Angelos’ observations and validate the student’s expressed interests and inclinations.

  • Assessment Tools: Utilising assessments or questionnaires that help further clarify the student’s strengths, personality traits, and aptitudes. This ensures that Angelos has a well-rounded view of the student’s capabilities and aspirations.

  • Reflection Exercises: Encouraging students to reflect on their choices and articulate why they prefer certain subjects or careers. This reflection helps in verifying whether their current direction genuinely aligns with their personal and academic profile.

Step 3: Identifying and Cancelling Unsuitable Options

  • Elimination Process: Based on the confirmed understanding from the previous step, Angelos guides the student in identifying areas that do not suit their skills or personal preferences. This involves questioning their assumptions and beliefs about certain subjects or careers.
Rational Decision-Making: Encouraging students to make decisions based on facts and evidence rather than misconceptions or societal pressures, ensuring that choices are genuinely aligned with their personal profile.
Practical Scenarios: Discussing real-life scenarios or examples from different careers to highlight what certain jobs truly entail, which helps students see beyond superficial job titles or misconceptions.

Step 4: Defining the Main Direction and Gradual Specialization

  • Main Direction Identification: Establishing a broad field or area (e.g., sciences, business, arts) where the student’s strengths and interests intersect. This main direction serves as a guide for further exploration.

  • Progressive Refinement: Gradually narrowing down within the chosen main direction, starting to focus on more specific fields as the student gains more knowledge and confidence in their choices.

  • Specific Concepts and Future Job Roles: As the student becomes more sure of their direction, Angelos provides targeted advice on potential job roles and the skills or knowledge needed for these roles.

Step 5: Suggesting Specific Career Paths, University Programmes, and How to Achieve Them

  • University Programmes: Recommending suitable university courses and programmes that align with the student’s chosen direction and future career aspirations.

  • Career Pathways: Offering insights into specific career pathways, job market trends, and the skills required to succeed in these fields.

  • Action Plan: Developing a step-by-step action plan that outlines how the student can reach their desired career goals, including academic milestones, extracurricular activities, internships, and other relevant experiences.

Step 6: Performance Hacking for Study Efficiency

  • Exam Control Techniques: Breaking down the syllabus, creating study schedules, practising with past papers, and using stress-management techniques to maintain focus.

  • Leveraging Technology and AI: Using AI-powered tools for personalised learning, such as flashcard apps, quiz generators, and platforms that tailor study plans to individual needs.

  • Organising Learning Process: Structuring study sessions with clear goals, prioritising high-impact resources, and maintaining a consistent review cycle to reinforce knowledge effectively.
